What's Covered

5-Year Delamination Warranty

All SurgeX membrane sails are covered against delamination (separation of laminate layers) for 5 years from the date of purchase. This is our commitment to the quality of our thermo-molecular fusion process.

Manufacturing Defects

We warrant that your sail is free from defects in materials and workmanship for 2 years from the date of purchase. This includes:

  • • Defective stitching or seams
  • • Hardware failures (rings, grommets, slides)
  • • Fiber misalignment or improper layup
  • • UV coating defects
  • • Reinforcement failures at corners or reef points

Warranty Service

If a covered defect occurs, we will repair or replace your sail at no charge, including shipping costs. The decision to repair or replace is at our discretion based on the nature and extent of the defect.

What's Not Covered

This warranty does not cover damage resulting from:

  • • Normal wear and tear: Gradual degradation from regular use over time
  • • Improper use: Using the sail beyond its design wind range or in extreme conditions
  • • Accidents: Tears, punctures, or damage from collisions or grounding
  • • Improper care: Damage from improper storage, cleaning, or maintenance
  • • Modifications: Alterations made by anyone other than SurgeSails
  • • UV degradation: Excessive sun exposure beyond normal sailing use
  • • Mildew or staining: Cosmetic issues that don't affect performance
  • • Chafe damage: Wear from contact with rigging, spreaders, or other equipment

Important: This warranty is void if the sail has been repaired or modified by anyone other than SurgeSails or an authorized repair facility.

Making a Warranty Claim

To file a warranty claim, follow these steps:

  1. Contact us: Email warranty@surgesails.com with your order number and a description of the issue
  2. Provide documentation: Include clear photos showing the defect from multiple angles
  3. Assessment: Our team will review your claim within 2-3 business days
  4. Return authorization: If approved, we'll provide shipping instructions and a prepaid label
  5. Inspection: We'll inspect the sail upon receipt to confirm the defect
  6. Resolution: Repair or replacement will be completed within 2-3 weeks

Pro Tip: Keep your original order confirmation and any maintenance records. This helps expedite warranty claims.

Additional Terms

Transferability: This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser.

Limitation of Liability: Our liability under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement of the defective sail. We are not liable for consequential damages, including but not limited to lost racing opportunities, charter cancellations, or other indirect costs.

Warranty Extension: Repaired or replaced sails are covered for the remainder of the original warranty period or 90 days, whichever is longer.

Governing Law: This warranty is governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which SurgeSails is registered.
